Meeting started with collaring the President
and with the agenda of celebrating the 56 Charter day and also 2nd
GB meeting of the year
·
Shila started the meeting with paying
condolences to Kalarani who lost her brother on 5 Aug and Umasree who lost her
mother on 7 Aug, 2018.
·
Shila extended her sincere thanks to all those
who contributed generously to Kerala Relief Fund and towards the shoes for the
Leprosy patients in Vellore
o
Sandhya and Shila are planning a trip to
Vellore when the shoes are ready for distribution
·
Shila provided an update on the Events/
Projects done in July/ August 2018
o
30 School bags were distributed to Kakkum
Karangal as planned earlier
o
5 Aug 2018-
District Car Rally in which Dist. Chairman Kala Rajasekar, Rajeena,
Neela, Shoba and Indira Revi participated along with Arasi. Our club bagged the
first prize in the Visually Challenged Category for Best Performance
o
7 Aug 2018-
Breast Feeding Awareness project at ICH Egmore. It was a joint project with Madras
Mount. We distributed 50 jablas (baby
dresses) and towels to new born babies and 50 packets of Manna Health Mix to
nursing mothers
o
13 Aug 2018- Donation of 20 Plastic Chairs to
Adi Dravidar School, Moulivakkam, Porur, to be used for the laptops given
earlier
o
14 Aug 2018- Mega Tree Plantation Drive
‘Aaranyam’ at BHEL Nandambakkam organized by IWD 323. Gayathri represented our club at this event
o
16 Aug 2018- Independence Day celebration at
NKT Boys School, Triplicane, Chennai planned on 15 Aug got postponed and we
visited the school on 16 Aug and distributed 220 cupcakes to the students &
staff. It is one of our Happy School’s.
o
16 Aug 2018- 5 Rectangle Plastic Tables were
donated to Corporation Lower School for LKG students to sit on floor and use
the tables. Distributed 30 cup cakes to
LKG and 1st Std kids
o
19 Aug 2018- ISO Carnival Day celebrated at MGR
Janaki College Auditorium. Our club
along with Gemini and Verve demonstrated “Tamil Nadu” cultural program and
dance, Ramp walk, Food and organized our stall with the Tamil Nadu style. Special thanks to ISO Sandhya for the efforts
to make this event a memorable one.

Contributed Rs.3200- Joint Project by Chennai
Galaxy for Adambakkam Tank Cleaning and lake uplift.
o
Rs 15,000 is approved to be given to Wheel
Chair Marathoner D. Annalakshmi for supporting her mobility vehicle.

Mike system with amplifier for Adi Dravidar
School, Porur, total estimated cost Rs.18550.
·
Revive the existing bore well, motor and
pipelines for Corporation Primary School, Indira Nagar – at estimated cost of
Rs. 31,000/-
·
Request from Corporation Middle School,
Royapettah, for complete repairs and renovation. A good candidate for our ‘Happy School’
project by all criteria’s. Anjana will
check on the specific requirements for this school
·
Need to give quotation for the repairs/
renovation of toilets to Rotary Club of Madras South
·
We need to find institutions that would need
laptops that we can receive from Rotary Club of Madras South this year.
·
Appeal from Shila to help a physically
challenged boy to find a job. Sita
offered to help and Shila to provide the required details.
·
Provisions for Asha Niketan can be provided in
coming months. It is a home for mentally
& physically challenged in Tiruvanmiyur.
·
We can also arrange for an eye camp at school
that would be beneficial for children & we should visit the Leprosy Home in
Manali and keep it for Chairman’s visit project.

New Members Joining: We also inducted 2 new members Nira
& Jothi and welcomed them to the fold of Inner Wheel.
Celebrations:
Charter Day was celebrated with cake
cutting and remembering the great members & traditions of the club
celebrating 56 glorious years.
We had a great entertainment with
Girija singing a religious song, entertainer conducting games followed by
presentation of old songs for which Sandhya, Vijaya Thayanban and Sita
sang. There was presentation on the
keyboard as well. Paati Veedu also gave
a great photo opportunity to all members
Meeting adjourned at 1 pm and followed
by sumptuous lunch from Paati Veedu.

Project: Erection of Traffic Boards by Inner Wheel Clubs of District 323
IWC Madras South joined several other clubs in the District as part of Madras Day Celebrations and in the process joined hands to erect the boards at the traffic signals with good messages. This will not only be creating good practices of traffic awareness & planned to emphasis the traffic rules and hazards of wrong commuting but also a way of branding Inner Wheel.
